Why HUD Certification Matters

What’s at stake?

  • Loan approval

  • Property resale value

  • Safety & durability

  • Local code / AHJ compliance

Ensuring safety, structural integrity, and legal compliance of manufactured homes. FHA and VA lenders require documentation that foundations, modifications, and home location standards meet HUD’s guidelines. Lack of certification may cause closing delays or denial of authorization.

Manufactured Home Certification FAQs

Do all manufactured homes need HUD foundation certification? ...

Only under certain circumstances – when financing, or when your lender / local jurisdiction requires the foundation to meet HUD criteria.

Which standards do you follow?...

We use HUD’s Permanent Foundations Guide for Manufactured Housing (HUD-4930.3G), along with FHA/VA lender specifications and any applicable local building codes.

What if modifications were made improperly?

We’ll identify deficiencies in our report. Once corrections are made, we can do a reinspection and issue the letter if all standards are met.

How long does it take?

Typically we can perform the site visit within 1-4 days. Engineering review and certificate issuance generally follows within 3-5 business days after the inspection, depending on backlog.

What is a '1st Permanent Location' statement?

A reasoned statement confirming the home has never been relocated and is in its original site, using HUD label/data plate, visual clues and other documentation.

What additional costs might there be?

If repairs are needed, those are on your side. We charge flat fees for inspections and certifications; any required structural fixes are outside of our services.

We meet FHA, VA, & HUD standards. Fast responses. Local service in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Southeast Indiana.
